Rare Photos of Transparent Fish‏

The Monterey Bay Aquarium Research Institute has released photos of a rare sight: the Pacific barreleye fish. The images were made in deep waters off of Monterey Bay, on the Central California coast. This is the first time one of these fish have been seen with its unique transparent dome intact. There is some strange stuff down there

Revamped Google Earth Dives to Ocean Floor

SAN FRANCISCO - Google Earth unveiled the fifth official revamp of its service on Monday, taking virtual tourists down to the bottom of the sea floor, to Mars, and back in time to explore the past through historical data.

As expected, Google unveiled the complement to what Sylvia Earle, a National Geographic explorer-in-residence, called "Google Dirt". Google Ocean not only highlights the surface of the sea and its wonders, but also will map the sea floor, down to the Mariana Trench, five miles down.

Wreck of HMS Victory 'recovered from Channel'

The shipwrecked predecessor to Lord Nelson's HMS Victory, which is thought to contain millions of pounds' worth of gold, is thought to have been found at the bottom of the English Channel.
