Posted By at 4:20 PM

The G'zOne is the toughest phone Verizon offers, and the first that you can dunk without fear. Now even "Aquaman" can keep his cell phone safe from harm underwater, using the new Verizon G'zOne. As the nation's first fully waterproof cell phone, the G'zOne offers a multitude of water-logged options. PC Mag Review:

ECDT Advanced Canada Trip
Posted By at 4:13 PM

Our last ECDT Trip for 2006 could not have been better. Based on the popularity of our late-season trip to the 1,000 Islands last year, I decided to try to work 2 days of diving off Kingston, Ontario into this years trip.

We had a total of 11 divers (one last minute cancellation) and dove 7 different wrecks over 4 days.

Upon arrival in Brockville, Ontario on Friday, October 6th we performed 2 dives on the wreck of the Daryaw. The second dive included a drift decompression – something not easily completed off Long Island waters. On Saturday, we dove the Vickery and Ash Island Barge / Bottle drift. Some divers pulled up some old (1912) and unique bottles on this dive. On both days we dove with 1,000 Island Pleasure Divers on the dive boat Pleasure Diver on Friday and their new Osprey on Saturday. Visibility in the River was between 30-50 feet.

Then on Sunday, after a 3 year absence, we dove with our favorite charter operator in Kingston, Limestone Diving Center. The winds cooperated producing very light “seas” and we were able to dive the City of Sheboygan and George T. Davie on Saturday and the Munson and Comet on Sunday. We dove of the dive boat Lyn Lee on both days. Visibility in the lake was between 40-70 feet.

Except for a few cold mornings, the afternoon water temps got up to the 60’s and 70’s with sunshine every day.

I have some video footage from the dives that I will try to assemble and post on YouTube shortly.

We were truly lucky to be blessed with such incredible weather during a time of year that can be so unpredictable up there. All divers had a great time and everyone is looking forward to additional trips up there.

NOAA URGES ALL TO RESPECT AND AVOID UNPLEASANT CONTACT WITH MARINE CREATURES
Posted By at 10:39 AM

Sept. 29, 2006 — Whenever you enter into the ocean, you should be aware of the hazards you may encounter in this foreign environment. Many people are already familiar with the dangers associated with the more common sea creatures (i.e., sharks, moray eels, barracudas, octopi, seals and sea lions), but few are aware of the more unusual sea creatures with sharp spines or edges that can cause abrasions, lacerations or punctures and/or venoms and toxins that can cause serious harm to humans.
