When you think about the perfect dive vacation, what comes to mind?  24 hour diving potential?  Great boat diving?  Large, covered, spacious and personal dive boats?  Over the water bungalows?  Fantastic meals? Awesome shore activities for you and any non-divers?

On November 5, 11 other lucky divers will be joining trip leader Jim Vafeas on our first ever club trip to Roatán to experience all of this - and more!

On a recent cruise, Jim and Janet docked at several popular Western Caribbean ports for shore and sea excursions.  But after they left Roatán, they knew they wanted to come back - soon.  "It doesn't get any more 'paradise' than this island!"

Roatán, the largest of the Honduras Bay Islands, is 35 miles off the north coast of Honduras - a long, narrow island, 40 miles in length and only 49 square miles. The mountainous, tropical jungle-covered island is surrounded by extensive coral reefs and offers pristine white sandy beaches, a diverse and unique reef system, heartwarming people, unique cultures and authentic Caribbean charm.  The island is surrounded by the world's second largest coral reef, dropping to 110' and hugging most of the shore. This provides calm, clear beaches for swimming and snorkeling and a great variety of sea life.  It's no wonder Roatán is often called "the Caribbean's best-kept secret."

Nature made it Beautiful. We make it easy.

Imagine waking up to the blue Caribbean crashing over a plateau of coral reef so lush and close that you can lean over and reach it from your porch. That's CoCo View Resort where we'll be staying; Roatáns award winning dedicated dive resort.

CoCo View is a family owned dive resort with over twenty years of experience catering to the expectations and comforts of divers. Located on the protected south shore of Roatán where Coral reefs are in shallower water, we'll experience calmer seas than the rougher north side.  Their custom dive boats will take us to the best sites around Roatán.

CoCo View also has a unique and spectacular "Front Yard", which includes 24 hour diving access on their house reef and a sunken DC3.  An no Jim Vafeas trip would be complete without wreck diving.  The "Front Yard" is also home to the Prince Albert, a 140 foot contemporary tanker sunk in 65 feet of water.  Dive it day, or night - as much as you like!

CoCo View has become a haven for 'land-lovers' as well. Non-divers, and divers putting in some dry-time, enjoy the resort's many amenities and island activities. Their spa, decks, clubhouse, beautiful grounds, and abundant hammocks are great ways to relax. Or you can get more active with their Fitness Center, kayaks and unbeatable snorkeling!

Feel even more adventurous?  There are optional shark and dolphin diving encounters.  Above ground, the island offers canopy (zip line) tours, a Copan tour, a Butterfly Garden & Bird Park and Eco tours.

If you would like to experience a little more of the charming island culture on Roatán, or mainland Honduras, there are optional last day excursions available as well.

What makes our visit to CoCo View even more incredible is all that you get.  The trip includes:

Have a non-diving friend who wants to join us? They can join us too for a reduced- price.  Complete trip pricing will be available shortly.

The number of divers that can go on the trip is limited. Please let us know as soon as possible if you would like to join us. A deposit of $150 is needed to hold a place on the trip for you. Keep in mind that we will be offering some of our great Advanced Specialties courses during our trip. Our Advanced Open Water Diver program is a program designed to help you be the best you can. Certification is based on taking 4 of our Advanced Specialties and logging 24 dives. With the dives on this trip and the numerous club dives planned for Long Island, you should have no problem doing your logged dives to reach the needed 24. If you really want to be the best you can, plan to keep going after your Advanced towards your Master Diver Certification. This is the highest level of civilian certification. Master Diver Certification is awarded to divers who have logged 50 dives, completed 4 specialties and taken Rescue Diver.

Here is a list of the courses we will be offering during our Roatán trip:

Underwater Naturalist: If you’re going to Roatán to see some of the most interesting creatures to be found underwater, it would be nice to know what you’re looking at. This program covers the basics of coral and fish identification and fish behavior. Don’t come back with great pictures of interesting creatures from the underwater world and not know what their name is.

Underwater Navigation: Nothing makes you feel more in control than knowing where you are. This program helps you to develop an all-important awareness of where you are while underwater.

Night Diver: It is a whole new world at night underwater. See what it’s all about. You must have Night Diver qualifications (which you get with this program) if you wish to go on a club night dive.

Computer Diving: Have a computer and not sure how it works? Thinking about getting a computer? Then this is the program for you.

Underwater Photography: With a night in the pool, you’re ready to take the challenge of taking pictures in underwater. We are offering both 35 mm and digital underwater photography

Deep Diving: Going deeper can offer some interesting sights and rewards. It can also be unforgiving if something goes wrong. In our Deep Diver program we cover the details that will help to make diving deeper safe for you.

Group size is limited to 12 divers - so book early!
