Absolutely! These trips are designed with beginner divers in mind. Most
of the sites offer multi-level attractions so you can dive at whatever depths
you are comfortable at. However, a
Wreck Diving Specialty
or previous wreck diving experience is required. If you are not yet certified
for the type of diving we are doing on the trip, we may be offering them for
during the trip.
But make no mistake, these locations offer enough varied enjoyment to satisfy
all levels of divers.
|
|
|
All locations will be within 8 hours of drive time. In some cases,
it would even be possible to put in ½ a day's work then leave for the trip.
On the last day of diving we plan on getting back to dock early enough to
allow for a relaxing drive home the same day.
|
What's the water temperature that time of
year? Isn't the water going to be cold?
|
For the locations on the dates we've scheduled, divers should be comfortable
in full wetsuits unless otherwise indicated. Water temps for the locations
have historically been in the 70's at the surface and 60's at depth, where
thermoclines exist.
|
What's the visibility going to be like?
|
While we can never guarantee visibility, it's typically 25+ feet for the
time of year we will be at each location. Special exceptions will be noted.
|
|
|
We've made the best effort to pick tour locations that provide a unique
diving experience. In some cases you will descending to largely intact wrecks
over 100 years old. Some locations provide drift diving and wall diving. Other
locations carry the possibilities of diving with Seals or Beluga whales. Lots
of great underwater photography can be had on these trips as well.
|
What's included in the cost?
|
The price of the trip includes: accommodations, based on double occupancy,
boat fees including tips, and air fills. A Nitrox upgrade price may be available
for a few dollars more than the Air package price. No meals are included
unless specifically indicated.
|
|
|
The trips accommodate anywhere from 6 - 14 divers. The smaller sizes make
it more manageable and more comfortable on the boats. People can also coordinate
a car pool, which helps split the driving and traveling expenses.
|
Will you be offering any Specialty or Advanced
courses on these trips?
|
Of course! You can do your Nitrox certification dives, Computer Diving
or Night Diving Specialties during these trips. And as long as we are
running the trip, we'll be glad to teach, regardless of how many students
there are. You could even get 1 on 1 instruction!
|
Are there any non-diving activities?
|
All our locations offer lots to do besides diving so non-divers are always
welcome. Each trip will post a list of local non-diving activities for the
land lubbers.
|
Can I get Nitrox fills there?
|
Most of our locations will offer Nitrox fills, but in any case, it will
be indicated on the trip information sheet.
|
Are these trips ever cancelled?
|
Only if we do not fill up the minimum amount of divers required trip by
the trips cancellation date. We will try to keep these minimums low to provide
every chance to run the trip. As we get closer to the trips dates, we will
be required to put down deposits for the accommodations and charter boats
to guarantee these spots.
If you are interested in a certain trip, be sure to sign-up as soon as possible.
This will not only guarantee your spot, but also prevent the trip from being
cancelled by perceived "lack of interest."
If trips are cancelled, all previous deposits will be refunded in full.
|
This all sounds great - how do I sign up?!
|
You can sign up by calling the shop at 516-796-6560 or stopping in and
leaving the required deposit. Make sure you've read all the information about
the trip you are interested in to make sure you are comfortable and/or qualify
for the type of diving being offered. Each trip information sheet will
be available in the shop, as well as online as soon as the details are finalized.
