On
June 11 some very lucky divers will be on their way to Cozumel, Mexico. This is
Tiedemann’s Diving Center’s annual trip to visit a beautiful island and
experience one of the best diving locations in the world. The Island of Cozumel
offers some of the best and most exciting diving to be found in the Caribbean. The Island of Cozumel has the diving that everyone is talking about.
With visibility often exceeding 200 feet, it has some of the most
spectacular reefs in the world.
This is truly a divers paradise. This world class diving destination has the spectacular Palancar-Maracaibo reef system along it’s southwest shore. Conservation has helped to keep the reefs in great shape. All of the reefs are protected as part of a national marine park.
The currents, which are common in Cozumel, help to keep the marine life abundant and visibility excellent. These currents have the added bonus of giving divers an easy and relaxing dive. We drift with the current and our dive boat picks us up down current. Drift diving offers the diver the chance to see more on every dive.
We
will be staying at the Scuba Club. One of the island’s most interesting resorts.
Set up for divers this resort is close to town and with great diving right off
the beach. Since a diving vacation should also be relaxing, rooms are not
equipped with a TV or a telephone, but instead are comfortable and have an
individual character with a feel of Mexican heritage. The resort does have WiFi
so you can keep in touch. Most rooms have an ocean
view. Accommodations are based on two per room, but a single room is available.
The trip includes: hotel accommodations of eight days and seven nights based on double occupancy (if you would like your own private room, there is an extra cost, three meals a day, five days of two tank morning boat dives, use of tanks, use of weights, and unlimited air for shore diving. Nitrox is available at $10 per tank.
Have a non-diving friend who wants to join us? They can join us too for a reduced price.
Our boats diving days are Sunday through Thursday. We are leaving Friday free for sightseeing and shopping.
The number of divers that can go on the trip is limited. Please let us know as soon as possible if you would like to go. A deposit of $150 is needed to hold a place on the trip for you. The remaining balance is due May 1. If you have any questions about the trip you can reach us at the Center at 516-796-6560.
Keep in mind that we will be offering some of our great Advanced Specialties courses during our trip. Our Advanced Open Water Diver program is a program designed to help you be the best you can. Certification is based on taking 4 of our Advanced Specialties and logging 24 dives. With the dives on this trip and the numerous club dives planned for Long Island, you should have no problem doing your logged dives to reach the needed 24. If you really want to be the best you can, plan to keep going after your Advanced towards your Master Diver Certification. This is the highest level of civilian certification. Master Diver Certification is awarded to divers who have logged 50 dives, completed 4 specialties and taken Rescue Diver.
